Did you know? Are we starting to see the dangerous effects of Genetically Modified food?
Have you heard of Morgellons Disease? If you haven’t yet, you will. The mainstream media is having a field day with it because it’s so disturbing. Those of us familiar with the dangers of genetically modified foods have been hearing about it for some time (Click GMO on my category cloud for previous blog entries). Sufferers report strange, fiber-like material sticking out of sores or wounds that erupt on the skin. This is accompanied by painful, intense itching, that has been described as “an ever present sensation as if something is crawling under the skin.” The CDC’s website lists additional symptoms, including fatigue, mental confusion, short term memory loss, joint pain, changes in vision, and social dysfunction, including suicide. The skin of Morgellons victims oozes mysterious strands that have been identified as cellulose (which cannot be manufactured by the human body). The fibers have been tested and are not textile fibers. Biochemist Vitaly Citovsky has made some additional discoveries about these fibers. They contain “Agrobacterium,” a genus of gram-negative bacteria capable of genetically transforming not only plant cells, but others also, including human cells. Agrobacterium tumefaciens is used commercially to produce genetically-modified plants. Hmmmm….Could Genetically Modified plants be “causing a new human disease or diseases?” Well, let’s hope not, because 70% of processed foods have genetically modified foods in them. The FDA once again has their heads buried somewhere and require no studies to observe whether or not GMOs are safe….they just take the word of studies conducted by the biotech companies. The fact is that when companies like Monsanto do their own testing, results are favorable in almost all cases, but when independent studies are done, the results are pretty disturbing. And genetically modified food does not have to be labeled as such. Every American should be concerned about the topic of Genetically Modified Food. The future of our food supply literally depends upon it. The following is a link to a very important documentary “The Future of Food”.
This documentary in 90 minutes in length. I guarantee it will change the way you think about GMOs as well as Monsanto, which has been called “the most evil company on the planet”. This in-depth investigation into the disturbing truth behind genetically modified foods will give you an idea of the scope of the problem. It will help you understand how and why the genetic engineering we allow to be unleashed today is a very real threat to ALL future generations. There are a couple of new books on the subject also. “The End of Food: how the food industry is destroying our food supply—-and what we can do about it: by Thomas R. Pawlick and “The End of Food” by Paul Roberts. In the meantime, it’s a good idea to stay away from anything containing corn (including high fructose corn syrup which is everywhere!) and soy (including soy lecithin which is everywhere!) and canola (rapeseed) or ………just stay away from processed foods. Read labels! I had to change my usual brand of “all natural” whole wheat bread because it contained high fructose corn syrup. Whole foods locally and preferably organically grown are the way to go. You’ll feel better, you’ll look better, and you won’t have to worry about cellulose fibers growing out of your nose.
“Genetic engineering is inherently dangerous, because it greatly expands the scope for horizontal gene transfer and recombination, precisely the processes that create new viruses and bacteria that cause disease epidemics, and trigger cancer in cells.”

Whenever we alter anything natural, we can expect a drastic consequence. These diseases were never known before.
Commercial transgenic plants DO NOT contain Agrobacterium. Release of engineered Agrobacterium is ILLEGAL, and does not occur (I work in the business). There is no permitted release of engineered Agrobacterium, and there never will be. The Agrobacterium is used to generate the transgenic plants, and then it is killed with a variety of antibiotics and physical/chemical treatments (autoclaving, bleach etc).
Far more likely, since Agrobacterium is a ubiquitous soil bacterium, people may come to harbour Agrobacterium by exposure to soil. Also, the original report that the lesions contained Agrobacterium I believe did not specify which species. The industry use Agrobacterium tumefaciens. There are many species of Agrobacterium, so what was found may not even be the same species as is used in GE. If indeed, the Agrobacterium found in lesions is engineered Agrobacterium, this would be very easy to ascertain as the genetic signature performed with DNA analysis is fairly trivial.

Since you are “in the business”, I’m sure that you are familiar with the following which is taken from the website of The Institute of Science in Society:
Although various antibiotics have been used to eliminate Agrobacterium following transformation, the researchers stated that “very few authors actually test to ensure that the antibiotics succeed.”
The difficulty is compounded because the bacterium can remain latent within the plant tissue. So putting transgenic plant material into culture medium without antibiotics and finding no Agrobacterium is no guarantee that the transgenic plant is free of the bacterium, as was often assumed.
In their study, they investigated the ability of antibiotics to eliminate Agrobacterium tumefaciens after transformation in three model systems: Brassica (mustard), Solanum (potato), and Rubus (raspberry). The antibiotics carbenicillin, cefataxime and ticaracillin were used respectively to eliminate the bacterium at four times the minimum bactericidal concentration, as recommended. They found that none of the antibiotic succeeded in eliminating Agrobacterium.

My understanding is that “Morgellons” has been observed long before the use of Agrobacterium in the production of trangenic plants. I have read that it was proposed by “experts” of the time, that the folks that had this “disease” were possessed by some evil spirit. I use KISS..”keep it simple stupid” (Occam’s razor) when I attribute causes to a not-well understood phenomenon. Thereore, I make the simplest assumption first, that the disease is more likely casused by intimate contact of humans with the soil-borne Agrobacterium.
Also, there is NO evidence that Agrobacterium is transmitted through the seed. This has been studied exhaustively by academics and industry scientists. Of the major food crops (corn, soybeans, wheat, rice etc), all the seed sown is removed many sexual generations past the introduction of the transgene. Since Agrobacterium is NOT transmitted through the seed (sexual generations), as far as we know (and it is impossible to prove a negative, as you well know), progeny seed that is used for breeding and for commercial use, contains no Agrobacterium. Many companies screen advanced materials for unwanted Agrobacterium sequences as a precaution, and as far as I know, these sequences have never been found. The original transgenic plants of these crops are not released into the environment, but rather, are grown in contained greenhouses (government regulations and good stewardship), and are NEVER used for feed, food or other commercial use.
If you fear extant Agrobacterium in food, I would worry much more about exposure to grapes, apples, and other fruit and nut crops that are infectable by natural Agrobacerium (as evidence by crown gall disease). I can point you to numerous papers in peer-reviewed journals that discuss the distribution of natural Agrobacterium in many food “crops” due to the natural pathogenicity of the bacterium.

Well Jerry, the so called “experts” of today are saying basically the same thing—only now they call it “delusional parasitosis” instead of attributing it to evil spirits. True psychiatric disorders aside, my humble prediction is that these experts will be found to be as wrong as the experts who say that cell phone radiation is safe, who said that cigarettes were safe to smoke, that diacetyl was safe to put in microwave popcorn, that dioxane was safe to but in children’s bubblebath, that it was safe to use polycarbonates in baby bottles…I could go on.
Sorry, but I’m not impressed with “peer reviewed journals”. I am more concerned with independent studies that show the link between
Bt10, NK603 and MON863 and adverse effects on the liver and kidneys of mammals. I am concerned that this crap is finding its way into the food I eat—-because labeling of GMOs is not required. I am concerned that if the insanity is not stopped, I may not have a choice in the future. And what then? What if the “experts” are found to be wrong and Morgellons is just one of many diseases linked to GMOs. What then?
My sister Suffers with Morgellons I can send pics to anyone who wans to see what this new epidemic with do to you if you get it- Its oth emotionally Physically And mentally destructive- I will lose her and it to the fools and evil people who cant just leave well enough alone- God made everything for us on earth perfect Quit FUCKING with Mother nature!
I’ve yet to meet anyone on an organic diet (NO GMO’s) to have Fibromyalgia.
Steer clear of soy as well – whether it be genetically modified or not. It’s approved as a cardboard binder only. It has no GRAS status whatsoever.
The same spin doctors behind GMOs are also those that state aspartame is safe. Aspartame is also genetically modified.
Lisa Lee said it right – stop fucking with mother nature. You can’t improve upon perfection, you can only screw it up.
Although it would be really great to know what morgellons really is, and how to stop it…especially how to stop it, for those suffering from it, there MUST be some help. Does anyone know of treatment that is effective? If it is caused by agribacterium, is there a way to kill it once it is inside a human? Is there a way to Un-morph DNA once it becomes altered? How is it spread? are those with morgellons destined to isolation and a no-touch life? There is real day to day suffering happening in millions of people …surely we can find some ways to help them. Please share what you know!
There’s not much help out there, especially from conventional medical doctors, to treat this disease. I did find a very good website http://www.morgellonstreatment.org. Its a little difficult to process all the information (title of the article is Morgellons Disease & Treatment), but his suggestions sound logical to me, based on natural treatments with which I am familiar. He includes a 21 day protocol for treatment. I found the section on HCL supplementation especially interesting. Hope it helps.
